How It Works:

The Full-mouth Rehabilitation Process

Evaluation & Treatment Plan

First, your dentist will get to know you and your unique dental needs to get a full-scope understanding of your true oral health. Next, we’ll take digital impressions and x-rays to examine your bite, tooth structure, and any decay or prior dental work. With all this information in mind, your dentist will create the treatment plan for your full-mouth rehabilitation.

Removal of Decay

Any decay or old dental work will be treated by your dentist. If left alone, these existing factors could threaten the stability and longevity of your reconstruction. Some of these treatments could include root canal therapy, replacement of old fillings, periodontal care, or tooth extractions in cases of extreme decay.

Custom Restorations

Now that the underlying issues have been addressed, it’s time for your smile makeover! We will take impressions of your teeth in order to craft the best restoration for your new healthy mouth. Whether you require veneers, implants, inlays, onlays, crowns, or more, your restorations will be custom-made to match the color and shape of the rest of your smile. Once they are complete, your dentist will securely bond the restoration into place, giving you a totally transformed smile!

Why choose implant restorations?

  • VERSATILE SMILE RESTORATION. Implant restorations can be used to replace one tooth with a crown, multiple teeth with a bridge, or a full mouth of teeth with implant-supported dentures. Implant restorations look, feel, and function just like real teeth. No matter how many teeth you’ve lost, you may be a good candidate for treatment with dental implants and an implant restoration.

  • LONG-LASTING RESULTS. When you care for them properly, your dental implants and your restorations could last decades. This is much longer than alternatives like dentures and traditional dental bridges, which makes implants a great long-term investment.

  • MINIMAL SPECIAL CARE. If you get a single-tooth restoration with a dental crown, you can just treat it like a normal tooth, and it’s easy to care for implant-supported bridges and dentures, too. This makes your life more convenient.

How it works:

The dental implant placement and restoration process

Placement

Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Flagstaff will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.

Healing & Osseointegration

Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. To ensure you are healing properly, we will see you for a couple of check ups during the osseointegration process.

Applying The Restoration

The final step in the implant treatment process is the restoration. Your restoration, or prosthetic dental crown, will be custom crafted to match your smile and securely affixed to the titanium implant. Once your new tooth is in place, your smile will be complete!

Frequently Asked Questions

How much will my full-mouth rehabilitation cost?

Since full-mouth rehabilitation is a completely custom treatment process, there is no one-set cost. An accurate cost estimation will be provided by your dentist during your consultation, which is based on the extent of work involved for your unique case. Rest assured, our office will walk you through our financing options and answer any questions you may have.

How long does a full-mouth rehabilitation take?

The timeline depends on a variety of factors, including the state of your current oral health, what treatments you may need prior to getting a restoration, how many restorations you will require, and more. From start to finish, a full-mouth rehabilitation takes anywhere from several months to 2 years to complete. At your consultation, your dentist will be able to provide a specific timeline based on your unique needs.

What types of procedures comprise a full-mouth rehabilitation?

Every patient is different, especially when it comes to full-mouth rehabilitation! Since your dental issues and health history are totally unique to you, there is no cookie-cutter path to ensure your mouth gets fully rehabilitated. That’s why we take the time to know you during your consultation and exam so we can thoroughly understand your oral health needs and goals. With all of these factors in mind, your dentist will be able to outline the best combination of procedures for you. Some of these restorations could include veneers, onlays, inlays, dental implants, dental crowns, or dentures. It’s always our goal to be conservative as possible when providing you with a long-lasting dental restoration.

Have Questions About Invisalign?

Find Answers Here

If you have minor or moderate orthodontic issues, you are likely a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. So long as your mouth is free of any oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, you will probably be eligible to proceed with treatment. However, Invisalign is not for everyone. Severe orthodontic issues may not be able to be addressed with Invisalign. In these cases, we usually recommend treatment with traditional metal or ceramic braces as they can provide more powerful results. To find out about your options for orthodontic treatment, schedule your consultation today!

While Invisalign trays look very similar to night guards and mouthguards, we do not recommend that you use Invisalign as a nightguard. The clear plastic trays are designed to gently shift your teeth, not protect them. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend that you get a night guard to protect your teeth and go with traditional braces instead of Invisalign. If you wear your aligners at night and notice that they are becoming cracked or worn down, this may be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night. This will affect your treatment so be sure to let your doctor know right away if you think you might be grinding your teeth.

The cost of treatment with Invisalign is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, though, so it’s important to discuss your budget with your doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will consider multiple factors including your needs, your lifestyle, and your budget before helping you decide which treatment to proceed with.

Invisalign aligners are nearly impossible to see when wearing them. This is because they are made out of clear plastic and are perfectly fit to your smile. Your trays will be custom-made trimmed to fit to your gum line for a more seamless look. Plus there are no metal brackets or wires, so you can feel confident in your smile throughout treatment. However, if you eat or drink with your aligners in, they could become stained, making them more visible.

These clear aligners are designed onto a mold of your teeth. A lab technician will apply layers of a photo-sensitive liquid resin to this custom mold. Next, the technician will expose this resin to a laser, curing it into a hard, yet flexible, thermoplastic. This plastic is called SmartTrack®, and it was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. It’s FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
